ABOUT OUR PRACTICE

Merrimack Thoracic & Esophageal Surgery is an independent, surgeon-led practice serving the Merrimack Valley, Western Massachusetts, and Southern New Hampshire.
Our mission is to deliver state-of-the-art thoracic care close to home in a multidisciplinary, patient-centered manner.

While we are affiliated with the Tufts Medicine network, Merrimack Health in Merrimack Valley and Holyoke Medical Center in Western Massachusetts, we also work closely with local doctors from Dana-Farber, Mass General Brigham, and HCA in New Hampshire. As an independent practice, we remain nimble and flexible in collaborating across all networks in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond. These affiliations allow us to provide patients with coordinated access to advanced diagnostics, peri-operative care, critical care, and regional hospital support.

We use the excellent operating room facilities at Lowell General, Merrimack Health Lawrence & Methuen and Holyoke Medical Center. All are well equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Our patients benefit from the expertise of critical care doctors at Tufts Medicine, Lawrence General, and InCare Pulmonary, who provide outstanding post-operative care. The Lowell General Cancer Center is a stand-alone, community-based cancer center that offers medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical consultations in one location with seamless care coordination and multiple tumor boards. Patients also have access to Dana-Farber’s world-class cancer expertise, ensuring the very best care possible. In addition, interventional radiologists at Lowell General, Holyoke Medical Center  and Merrimack Health provide exceptional procedural support.

Our practice incorporates the most current technologies, including robotic thoracic surgery with the da Vinci system, endobronchial ultrasound, and navigational bronchoscopy. Patients choose Merrimack Thoracic & Esophageal Surgery because they value independent, accountable surgical care with direct access to the surgeon, timely appointments, and clear communication about treatment options and outcomes.

We are deeply invested in our local community. Many primary care doctors have known us for years, and our excellent outcomes speak for themselves. We also offer innovative care models to support primary care providers and keep costs low by working with private imaging centers. With high-deductible insurance plans now the norm, we help patients receive advanced care while staying within budget.

We believe in transparent, high-quality care informed by training, experience, and patient feedback. Our commitment is to provide world-class thoracic surgery without requiring patients to travel far from home.
